Long Bio

Jessica Keener is the author of the national bestselling debut novel, Night Swim, and a collection of award winning stories, Women In Bed. Her newest novel, Strangers In Budapest, has been widely praised by reviewers including Entertainment Weekly, which selected her novel as a best new book in November and wrote: “her writing sparkles…and demonstrates a masterly touch…fusing emotion to setting and past to present with cutting brevity….A rare achievement for an American novel of this international emphasis..” The Jewish Book Council called Strangers In Budapest “An emotional, unpredictable, and often riveting story… and makes for an ideal place in which to explore themes of loss, love, and the courage required to come to terms with the past.” Keener is the recipient of a Massachusetts Cultural Council Artist's Grant and has been listed in The Pushcart Prize under “outstanding writers.” She has taught literature and writing at Boston University, Brown University, U. of Miami, and Grub Street, and has written more than a hundred feature articles for national magazines such as The Boston Globe, O the Oprah magazine, Design New England, and others. She lives in the Boston area with her husband (and cat) and is currently working on a new novel set in Boston.
