We were delighted with our decisions to select Laurie Lico Albanese as the author for our One Book, One Community. “Stolen Beauty” was extremely popular with our patrons and appealed to many different interests - WWII, art history, and Jewish themes. Our 400 guests in the audience were truly impressed by her presentation. Laurie is extremely smart and personable. She enlightened her audience with wonderful insights into the history and relationships featured in the book.

We were thrilled to host author, Laurie Lico Albanese, at an event co-sponsored by a local nonprofit arts agency. Laurie’s novel, “Stolen Beauty”, combined the story of two extraordinary women from the beginning of the 20th century to World War II with the true life story of the creation and near destruction of Gustav Klimt’s most well-known paintings. If you are a lover of art, a lover of Jewish history, or just a lover of a good read—you’ll not only want to read the book, you’ll want to see and hear Laurie’s presentation that puts much of the story into the context of the political, social and arts climate of that era. Ms. Albanese is a delightful and entertaining speaker and very easy to work with. She is quite knowledgeable about the history and art of the time and does a great job of connecting with the audience. Our audience of close to 80 people left the presentation impressed with the author and looking forward to reading her next book.
