Whether it’s a binge-worthy TV show or a star-studded film, many of our authors have seen their works turned into captivating screenplays. For coordinators, film & TV screenings are a wonderful addition to author event programming.
As the winter chill sets in, there’s no better time to cozy up with a great book—and film. From thrilling mysteries to heartwarming romances, we’ve curated a list of must-see and must-read stories.
Here are a few adaptations to add to your winter watch-list!

Let’s Call Her Barbie will be published January 21st, 2025
This fresh take on the iconic story of Barbie explores the story of Ruth Handler and what it took to build the Barbie empire. This book goes hand in hand with the sensational 2023 film Barbie. Anyone who loved the frills and depth of the movie should read this book.
Remarkably Bright Creatures was published May 3rd, 2022
In Summer 2024, it was announced that Shelby Van Pelt sold the film rights for Remarkably Bright Creatures to Netflix. The film will be directed and co-written by Olivia Newman (known for directing Where The Crawdads Sing). Sally Field is in talks to star as the beloved Tova. “The octopus book” is coming to the screen, and we are impatiently waiting for a release date!
Eden Undone was published September 24th, 2024
Eden Undone follows the strange and true story of a bizarre community in the Galapagos Islands, as they attempt to build a utopia during World War II. The coinciding film, Eden, was released September 7th, 2024 at the Toronto Film Festival. The pair create a chilling and compelling view into the human psyche, in a story reminiscent of Lord Of The Flies – only far more mature.
Supreme Models was published October 8th, 2019
Supreme Models celebrates Black models and how they have influenced fashion and pop culture for decades, reshaping beauty standards while breaking boundaries. The book inspired a 6 episode TV series of the same name, filled with inspiring models. A great show to binge watch and a beautiful book to add to your collection.
Z: A Novel Of Zelda Fitzgerald was published March 4th, 2014
The Great Gatsby celebrates it’s 100th anniversary on April 10th, 2025. In celebration, we are rereading Z: A Novel Of Zelda Fitzgerald and rewatching every episode of the 2015 Amazon adaptation Z: The Beginning of Everything. The show was created by Dawn Prestwich and Nicole Yorkin, and stars the delightful Christina Ricci as Zelda Fitzgerald.
Bridgerton: The Duke & I was published Dec 30, 2019
Bridgerton is one of those series that you devour on long nights of no sleep. The Netflix show of the same name is no different. Julia Quinn is truly a romance master, giving us a series of love affairs and epic romances that we all daydream about. If you haven’t watched the show yet, add it to your queue. With 3 seasons and a spinoff show, it’s the perfect binge-worthy romance.
The Queen of Sugar Hill was published January 30th, 2024
The Queen of Sugar Hill follows the story of Hattie McDaniel, the first Black person ever to win an Oscar for her role as Mammy in the critically acclaimed classic film Gone With The Wind. While this book is technically more of a “from the stage to the page” adaptation, it’s not one to miss. This story is powerful and profound, especially when paired with a fresh viewing of Gone With The Wind.
