How does it work?

The Goodreads Choice Awards reflect the books that are most popular with our members. Nominees are determined based on the millions of books added, rated, and reviewed by Goodreads members each year. This year with 300 nominees across 15 categories, you’ll find everything from romance to mystery, from memoirs to science fiction. You’ll also find long-time favorite authors and those making their debut. Votes in the opening round determine the finalists; then vote on the top 10 finalists across each category to crown this year’s winners as Readers’ Favorite Books of 2025.
