Sonido Reyes is the award-winning and bestselling author of The Lesbiana’s Guide to Catholic School, The Luis Ortega Survival Club, The Broposal, and The Golden Boy’s Guide to Bipolar. They also have contributed short stories to the anthologies Transmogrify! and For the Rest of Us.
Sonido writes fiction celebrating queer and Mexican stories in a variety of genres, with current projects in both kidlit and adult categories. He is also the vice-president of My Galvanized Friend, a nonprofit focused on providing access to and amplifying LGBTQ+ writing, art, and creators. They also co-host the podcast Bidi Bidi Book Pod, which celebrates queer and trans BIPOC authors and stories.
Outside of writing, Sonido loves making ridiculous D&D characters and breaking their body and vocal cords by dancing and singing karaoke at the same time. Sonido’s pre-evolution form was called Sonora Reyes. If you spot their old name on a book in the wild, please don’t hesitate to show it some love and take it home with you to help speed up the evolution process.
