The Des Moines library’s Authors Visiting in Des Moines (AViD) speaker series is returning next month. For a special 2020-21 season, the “visiting” part will look a little different, with all authors appearing virtually.
Popular novelist Kate Quinn will kick off this special season of AViD on Dec. 9, at 7 p.m. on Zoom.
Quinn is the best-selling author of critically acclaimed historical fiction novels that feature strong female heroines. In 2017, she released The Alice Network to widespread acclaim. The story of a female spy recruited to the real-life Alice Network in France during World War I, the book quickly became a New York Times and USA Today bestseller, and was one of the first Reese Witherspoon Book Club Picks.
Her 2019 follow-up, The Huntress, was an instant New York Times bestseller. The novel tells the story of a battle-haunted English journalist and a Russian female bomber pilot who join forces to track down the Huntress, a Nazi war criminal gone to ground in America.
