“All I do is tell the stories of other people,” says Mills, 56. We say he’s selling himself short. Over his decades-long career in the outdoor industry, Mills, who lives in Madison, Wisconsin, has dedicated himself to highlighting underrepresented people and communities, from writing his book The Adventure Gap: Changing the Face of the Outdoors to co-writing and co-producing a documentary about the first all-African-American ascent of Denali (An American Ascent).
